Scrummi has become the first supplier of disposable salon and spa towels to achieve EN13432 composability certifications from TÜV Austria. The certification, also widely known as Seedling, confirms that under optimal conditions, Scrummi Waffle products will biodegrade completely within 100 days.

Packaging or products featuring the Seedling label are guaranteed as biodegradable in an industrial composting plant and comply with the requirements of the EU Packaging Directive (94/62/EEC).

All Scrummi Waffle Textured products in White and Black are covered by the new certification, with product packaging carrying both the seedling and OK Compost logos rolled out over the coming months as packaging is replenished at our production sites.

We recognise that customers who switch from traditional laundered towels to disposable do so, in part, because of the reassurance of the product being a biodegradable, sustainable option.”

The certification process which took almost two years to complete sheds further clarity on questions raised by waste collection companies about the correct way to handle used Scrummi products and represents a significant investment in the brands future.
