Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa, located in the Northern Lake District alongside the Lake District Wildlife Park is pleased to have raised a donation of £4,400 to SEED Madagascar, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to the conservation and development of rural Madagascar.
The contribution will help SEED Madagascar’s conservation and research efforts, advancing wildlife conservation initiatives, empowering local communities, and supporting critical projects that are making a difference around the world. The research will be key in advocating for biodiversity and community-led solutions to ensure the best outcomes for the landscape and its inhabitants.
The donation is also supporting Project Ala, SEED’s long-term initiative to create forest corridors linking fragmented habitats.
The award-winning hotel and the Lake District Wildlife Park have been committed to giving back to the community and protecting our planet’s diverse ecosystems for many years. Their donations have not only underscored their commitment to these causes but have also produced tangible and positive outcomes, as expressed by the charities themselves.
Mark Jacobs, Managing Director at SEED Madagascar, shared his heartfelt appreciation for the enduring partnership with the Lake District Wildlife Park, saying: “The Lake District Wildlife Park has been a dedicated partner for over eight years, actively supporting our mission by delivering educational sessions and fundraising for Project Ala. Ongoing, consistent support like this is vital to ensuring the continuity and impact of our work. We’ve been able to advance a range of conservation initiatives in the rural southeast of Madagascar, including planting native saplings to restore forest corridors, conducting both day and night lemur population surveys, establishing forest protection committees, and providing essential habitat conservation training to local communities.”
Commenting on the donations, Carolyn Graves, Director of Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa, said: “We are incredibly proud to support such meaningful initiatives. The dedicated staff at the Wildlife Park play a vital role through their engaging Lemur Encounters and informative talks, which educate visitors about the urgent plight of lemurs in Madagascar. A percentage of the money raised from all animal encounters is donated directly to conservation efforts, ensuring that every visit actively contributes to protecting endangered species. This partnership highlights our ongoing commitment to creating a brighter, more sustainable future for all.”
In previous years, Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa and the Lake District Wildlife Park has raised donations for the Red Panda Network, The Hawk Conservancy Trust and SEED Madagascar.
