1. What trends do you see emerging in the spa industry within the next 2-3 years?

Erin: I see a number of trends emerging, including:

  • Wellness is increasingly becoming accessible to a broader demographic, regardless of age or socioeconomic status. In support of this, we’ll see larger, more inclusive social wellness spaces designed to serve diverse groups.
  • Pop-up wellness concepts are also gaining traction, offering convenient access to quick treatments like saunas and cold dips in various locations, making wellness more adaptable to busy lifestyles.
  • Touchless wellness technologies will continue advancing rapidly, making their adoption essential for wellness providers to remain competitive. These innovations not only enable precise, customised experiences & outcomes but also help address staffing shortages and enhance return on investment.

2. In my opinion, the future of the spa industry lies in...

Erin: Democratizing wellness for all. Making wellness accessible and approachable is essential; barriers of any kind discourage engagement with wellness routines. The industry must strive to create inclusive, barrier-free wellness experiences that encourage participation and commitment to healthy lifestyles.

3. What challenges do you see ahead?

Erin: Two core challenges consistently arise: education and financial accessibility. These factors play significant roles in shaping both consumer engagement and industry growth and addressing them is vital to the continued success of the wellness sector.

4. My favourite personal wellness routines include …

Erin: For me, it begins with a dog walk or mountain bike ride, followed by a cold plunge and a halotherapy session with red light therapy. I might change up the order depending on how I feel, but no matter the sequence, this routine never fails to deliver.

5. The best advice I can offer the next generation of wellness professionals is:

Erin: Prioritise your own wellness. As wellness professionals, we often focus on the needs of others, sometimes at the expense of our own health. By nurturing our well-being first, we’re in a stronger position to support and inspire others in their wellness journeys.
