Brass Monkey, the ice bath company created to address the growing gap in modern readiness and recovery culture, has appointed Kevin Gillespie as Projects Lead, bringing more than 20 years of experience across sports science, physiology and specialist facility builds.
Kevin has built his career on creating controlled-environment spaces for elite performance. After starting out in technical sales and business development at HaB Direct, he spent almost a decade at Sporting Edge UK, taking altitude and environmental chambers from first design to final installation for academia, professional sport and the military. In 2024 he founded Enviro Chambers, a consultancy and supply business for altitude and heat chambers.
His installations span Premier League football clubs, international Olympic facilities, military sites, leading universities and high-spec private builds, backed by a track record of delivering technically complex projects on time, to spec and with minimal disruption. That blend of specialist technical knowledge and hands-on project delivery is exactly what he brings to his new role as Projects Lead at Brass Monkey.
In his new role, Kevin will lead Brass Monkey's projects from first conversation to finished install, scoping each space, specifying the right system and overseeing delivery. He will work with gyms, hotels, sports clubs and performance centres to make sure every cold water immersion installation is built to the standard the site, and its users, need.
Commenting on his appointment, Gillespie said: “With a background in sports science, I’ve always been fascinated by how the body responds and adapts to the stressors placed upon it. For the past 12 years, I’ve worked in project management across installation and construction, so Brass Monkey is where those two worlds come together, and it felt like a natural fit.
Brass Monkey pioneered the cold water immersion category in the UK and is now building the infrastructure to take it further. I’m looking forward to developing my skills and playing my part in the next phase of the company’s growth.”
