The Spa at Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa near Retford has introduced Wave Reset™, a 30-minute relaxation experience combining zero-gravity positioning, vibroacoustic sound, gentle vibration and guided meditation.
The new experience forms part of the spa’s wider offering of technology-led and touchless wellness experiences, providing guests with an alternative to more traditional hands-on treatments.
Wave Reset™ takes place in a low-lit relaxation room, where guests settle into a zero-gravity lounger and use an eye mask during the session. A guided programme then combines sound, gentle vibration and meditation, with guests remaining still throughout.
The concept is designed to support different approaches to relaxation, with a choice of guided experiences including nature-inspired soundscapes, confidence-focused sessions and visualisation designed to prepare guests for activities such as golf. The format also reflects the growing range of ways spas are incorporating technology into relaxation experiences, particularly for guests who may find conventional meditation difficult or are looking for an alternative to hands-on treatments.
At the end of the session, guests are offered herbal tea and a short period of time to transition back into the wider spa environment.
Priced at £40 per person, the 30-minute experience can be booked as a standalone session or added to selected spa experiences and packages. Two loungers are available, allowing the experience to be taken individually or by two guests together.
Lizzie Bath, Spa Director at Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa, said the experience was developed in response to guests looking for accessible ways to switch off without having to learn a particular relaxation technique.
“People are increasingly looking for ways to properly switch off, but relaxation doesn’t always come naturally to everyone,” she said. “The Wave Reset™ gives guests permission to do absolutely nothing for 30 minutes, and there’s no technique to master and nothing to achieve.”
The experience is the latest addition to the spa’s existing thermal and wellness facilities, which include 11 thermal experiences.
These include the Stonebath steam room, which the spa describes as one of three of its kind in the UK, alongside the Snowstorm experience and Sabbia Med room, designed to recreate the sensation of year-round sunshine.
The spa has also previously introduced the HaloIR™ Breathe & Detox treatment, adding to its use of technology-led wellness experiences.
With Wave Reset™, the spa is extending this approach into a relaxation format that does not rely on traditional massage or other hands-on treatments. The 30-minute format also allows the experience to be incorporated into a wider spa visit without requiring a significant additional time commitment.
