Titanic Spa, the UK's first purpose-built eco-spa, has further strengthened its sustainability credentials with a major upgrade to its existing solar energy infrastructure, investing in an enhanced solar photovoltaic (PV) system at its award-winning West Yorkshire destination.
The upgraded solar installation now comprises 201 solar panels, delivering 102.51 kWp of installed DC power and 66.60 kW of achieved AC power. The expanded system is expected to generate 94.51 MWh of renewable electricity annually, significantly increasing the spa's on-site renewable energy production.
The investment is expected to deliver substantial environmental benefits, reducing annual carbon emissions by 18.28 tonnes of CO? – the equivalent of planting 839 trees each year.
The upgraded solar system is forecast to generate a net financial benefit of approximately £130,000 over its lifetime, supporting the business's long-term commitment to sustainability while helping to maintain exceptional experiences for guests.
Since opening its doors in 2005, Titanic Spa has been recognised as a pioneer in sustainable spa tourism, winning numerous industry awards. Housed within a restored textile mill in the heart of Yorkshire, the spa was founded on environmentally conscious principles and continues to invest in initiatives that minimise its environmental impact while enhancing guest experiences.
By expanding its existing solar infrastructure, Titanic Spa will be able to generate more of its own clean, renewable energy on-site, further reducing reliance on grid electricity and supporting the business's wider sustainability objectives.
