The Well Spa at Bluestone National Park Resort in Pembrokeshire, Wales, has been recognised as the Best Spa for Sustainability by the UK’s Good Spa Guide Awards 2025.
The announcement was made at the 16th annual Good Spa Guide Awards, which took place as part of the Spa Life UK Convention in Hampshire this June — the UK’s leading event for spa and wellness professionals.
Over 100 spas were reviewed by the Good Spa Guide’s expert team, with 250,000 spa-lovers casting their votes for their shortlisted favourites. Winners were celebrated across eight categories at this industry gathering of the year.
Among its standout achievements in sustainability, The Well Spa — part of Bluestone National Park Resort — is proudly operationally fossil fuel free, underlining its mission to make a lasting, positive impact for generations to come.
By using green electricity and BioLPG, The Well Spa has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by an impressive 99.9%, cutting potential emissions from 92 tonnes to just 62kg per year.
Roughly a third of the spa’s electricity needs are met by solar energy, including an on-site solar farm, with the remainder coming from certified renewable sources via Ecotricity REGOs. Housed in a purpose-built manor inspired by the original 13th-century holy well on Bluestone’s estate — which still supplies nearly half the spa’s water — the facility features ten treatment rooms, a vitality pool in a tranquil courtyard, and a range of thermal experiences including a herbal steam room, marine steam room, and Celtic-influenced sauna, all heated using BioLPG.
The Well Spa also champions local and sustainable sourcing, including seaweed from Wales’ first community-owned regenerative ocean farm, Câr y Môr, which powers its signature Seaweed Bath Experience. Once used, the seaweed is anaerobically digested to generate green energy and organic fertiliser for local farms. The spa also favours refillable and reusable packaging, recycles soft plastics, and nurtures pollinator-friendly flower beds outside its doors.
