The Spa at Carden Leads Germaine De Capuccini’s Sustainable Spa Campaign


The UK’s leading destination spa The Spa at Carden, is continuing to build on its progressive eco credentials, as it works with its lead product house Germaine De Capuccini, to provide refillable cosmetics to customers both in the retail space, and in treatments. As the flagship spa of the brand, The Spa at Carden will be one of the first in the UK to roll out the brand-new green packaging scheme, having just been named a finalist in the Good Spa Guide 2024 category of ‘Best Sustainable Spa’.

Celebrating its 60th year anniversary this year, Germaine De Capuccini is launching its Refill & Renew packaging, a recyclable eco refill that can be placed inside the original product jar time and time again. The new packaging offers a dynamic way for customers to replenish their favourite products, reducing the use of virgin resources in packaging. The new refillable format gives a second life to the packaging, removing less plastic in circulation and to encourage more environmentally friendly consumption.

The new Eco-Refill container packaging will result in:

- 95% less virgin plastic material

- 94% less CO2 emissions

- 50% less virgin cardboard

- 90% less waste

- 97% lower electricity consumption

- 100% less ink

We have promoted the redesign of products, reducing, in some formats, 80% in weight of packaging components; more than 75% of our products are easily recyclable; our Timexpert Sun range is formulated with bio- degradable ingredients and sun protection filters that is found to be safe for marine life. As part of the CO2 Zero Project, we are certified as the first professional skincare company committed to compensating and reducing CO2 emissions”.

When The Spa at Carden was built in 2019, it was built with ecological considerations in mind, conserving resources such as water and energy. Inspired entirely by nature, it does everything in its power to respect the surrounding woodland and natural life. An official Silver Green Tourism member, the spa continually works to make the business greener, always innovating and finding new solutions.

In its sustainability mission statement, The Spa at Carden pledges to only “work with suppliers and contractors with similar environmental standards to align with its vision”. Germaine De Capuccini was chosen as The Spa at Carden’s product house due to its quality, innovation, and integrity, providing customers with Vegan and cruelty free, luxury products. Female founded, Carmen Vidal founded Germaine de Capuccini in 1964. A visionary woman with a passion for beauty and aesthetics, she opened her first beauty institute in Alcoy (Alicante), offering clients treatments she formulated herself. Today, Germaine de Capuccini is present in over 80 countries, ranking as one of the most prestigious Spanish professional cosmetics companies globally.
