Ffolkes Pub & Hotel, located in Hillington, Norfolk, has announced its new £3m development, FFOLKESPA.
Bold, colourful and built for fun, this stunning new thermal spa retreat will be made for soaking, sipping, lounging, laughing and letting go. Majoring on cocktails and spa vibes, rather than spinach smoothies and zen, FFOLKESPA will feature five distinct spa zones, each of which will enable visitors to make the most of the health and wellness benefits of the Ffolkes thermal cycle of heat, cool, chill, repeat.
The spa is set to open on the 5th September and is now taking bookings for spa stays and half-day spa visits until the end of the year.
Norfolk Passport directors Richard Knights and Tom Oakley—who also operate The Pigs, Edgefield, and Byfords, Holt—say FFOLKESPA’s 12 thermal experiences and high-quality treatments, combined with its relaxed social vibe, will make it unique to the region.
Richard says: “Ffolkes broke the mould when we opened a few years ago, and FFOLKESPA is going to do exactly the same. Formulaic, white-walled and slightly stuffy may be the way things are usually done when it comes to your standard spa experience, but we’re taking a very different approach – one we’re sure is going to resonate with couples and groups of friends looking for somewhere completely unique to celebrate quality time together.”
FFOLKESPA’s Ibiza zone will include four double foot spas, four cabanas with heated loungers and a feature stainless steel hot tub accommodating up to 14 people. The tub-side cocktail bar and seating will be topped off with a disco ball and sound system to ensure maximum island vibes.
Sauna and fire will provide three different saunas - SALT, HERBAL & GLOBAL - all surrounding a central four-sided wood-burning stove. Sauna rituals hosted by Ffolkes’ Sauna Masters will take place in the Global sauna. A plunge pool, mist shower and ice fountain will provide the cold element of the Heat, Cool, Chill, Repeat cycle.
Tom adds, “Although FFOLKESPA will be very relaxed and deliver a great vibe, our mantra is going to be Heat, Cool, Chill, Repeat, and we’re going to be on a mission to educate our guests on the clear health benefits the thermal spa cycle can bring—not only by relaxing muscles, relieving aches and pains, improving circulation and cleansing the skin, but also by reducing stress and aiding sleep.”
Sixteen plush spa bedrooms will be available to overnight guests, with 12 offering direct spa access. Half-day spa experiences will be available, offering four hours spa access and a variety of food options depending on which of three session times you attend. Brand new amongst these will be FFOLKESPA’s unique Afternoon ‘Street’ Tea - a modern take on traditional afternoon tea featuring a street food twist.
A variety of treatments will also be on offer in four calming treatment rooms. These will include massage, body treatments (including Indian Head Ritual) and facials. Pregnancy-safe massage and facials will also be available. A pre-treatment lounge & larder and post-treatment relaxation room with water beds and cosy throws will add to the indulgence.
Thirty-two new jobs are being created as a result of the new spa, with 10 new recruits currently in training to become fully-qualified massage therapists as part of Ffolkes’ dedicated Spa Academy programme.
Those who qualify will secure a fully-insurable Level 3 CPD Accreditation in Full Body Massage, as well as a guaranteed full or part-time position as part of the spa team at FFOLKESPA or its sister spa at The Pigs.
Spa room stays cost from £250 per night (based on a room for two people). Half-day spa experiences start at £95 per person. Treatments start from £80.
