Finnmark Sauna is marking ten years in business, as the UK sauna sector continues to experience significant growth.
Founded in 2016 by Jake Newport, the company has evolved from a one-man operation into an eight-figure national sauna specialist delivering installations across residential, hospitality and commercial wellness environments. Over the past decade, Finnmark Sauna has delivered thousands of projects nationwide. Notable installations include the UK’s largest sauna at ARC Canary Wharf, the tallest sauna installation at Shangri-La The Shard and the UK’s first floating sauna at WYLD Sauna.
Newport believes the shift reflects a broader change in consumer expectations around wellbeing and recovery.
“When we launched in 2016, sauna was still considered a niche addition within most spa and hospitality environments,” he says. “Today, it is seen as a core wellness offering. Clients are more informed and far more focused on technical performance, ventilation, heat distribution and long-term durability.”
He adds that the market has matured significantly over the past decade. “There is greater awareness of authentic Nordic standards and the importance of correct airflow and material specification. The conversation has moved beyond aesthetics to performance and user experience.”
Finnmark Sauna works across private residential projects, luxury hospitality settings and large-scale commercial wellness environments. The company operates nationally from its headquarters in County Durham and employs 50 staff across design, manufacturing and installation.
Looking ahead, the business is preparing to launch a modular sauna concept aimed at widening accessibility while maintaining high performance standards. International expansion is also under consideration as global interest in thermal wellness continues to rise.
Reflecting on the ten-year milestone, Newport says the focus remains on sustainable growth. “The past decade has been about building technical credibility and delivering consistent quality. The next phase is about scaling responsibly while maintaining the standards that define the sauna experience.”
As the UK market continues to expand, Finnmark Sauna’s anniversary highlights both the rapid evolution of the sector and the growing role of sauna within mainstream wellness strategy.
