Gleddoch Golf & Spa Resort celebrates its centenary in 2026, marking a century since the estate was originally built in 1926 for shipping industrialist Sir James Lithgow. Overlooking the River Clyde, the property was converted into a hotel in 1974 and has since developed into a well-established destination in the west of Scotland.
The milestone follows a period of investment, including the recent launch of its Imperia Spa, a multi-million-pound development that has already received industry recognition, including Best New Spa at the Good Spa Guide Awards 2025. The addition strengthens the resort’s existing offer, which includes golf, dining and countryside accommodation.
A programme of activity is planned throughout 2026, with themed events, competitions and limited-edition experiences designed to mark the anniversary. The resort has also introduced a series of promotional initiatives to launch the celebrations, alongside ongoing announcements across its spa, golf and accommodation offering.
Set within a rural setting while remaining accessible from Glasgow, Gleddoch continues to position itself as a versatile resort catering to a broad mix of leisure guests, from short breaks to group stays.
James Anderson, General Manager at Gleddoch Golf & Spa Resort, said, “This is a truly significant milestone for everyone at Gleddoch. We are incredibly proud to be celebrating our centenary and reflecting on the rich history that has shaped the resort into what it is today. Our success is a testament to the dedication and passion of our team, whose commitment continues to deliver the exceptional level of hospitality our guests expect. We’re excited to celebrate this landmark year with our guests and partners and look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to evolve and enhance our offering for the future.”
The centenary provides an opportunity to reflect both on the property’s heritage and its ongoing development, as it continues to evolve within Scotland’s competitive resort and spa landscape.
