A new wellness destination is set to join Glasgow's hospitality landscape this September with the opening of Atera, a holistic bathhouse and spa located beneath Oswald Street in the heart of the city centre.
Positioned close to Glasgow Central Station, the new concept draws on Mediterranean wellness traditions, thermal bathing culture and elemental design to create an urban retreat focused on restoration, movement and wellbeing.
The opening represents the first major UK project for international spa consultancy and management company bbspa Group, as it expands its presence into the British market.
Developed in response to increasing consumer interest in holistic approaches to health and wellbeing, Atera has been conceived as a contemporary bathhouse offering thermal experiences, spa treatments and movement-based wellness within a single destination.
Alongside its thermal facilities and treatment offering, Atera will include a wellness café inspired by Mediterranean nutrition, a fully equipped gym and dedicated movement studios. Membership options will support regular use of the facilities, encouraging long-term engagement with health and wellbeing rather than one-off spa visits.
The name Atera combines the Latin words terra (earth) and aqua (water), reflecting the property's focus on natural elements and traditional bathing rituals interpreted for a modern urban audience.

Further details on Atera's facilities, treatment menu, memberships and opening programme will be announced ahead of its official launch in September.
