Gisborough Hall Country House Hotel & Spa has unveiled the first look at its new Sakura Spa, a wellness destination drawing on Japanese-inspired design, thermal bathing and the surrounding North Yorkshire landscape.
The spa has been designed around the beauty and symbolism of the cherry blossom, with a focus on nature, calm and mindful wellbeing. Its interiors combine muted tones, natural stone, warm wood and Japandi-influenced furniture, while a signature cherry blossom scent forms part of the arrival experience. Outside, the spa’s thermal garden looks across the surrounding countryside and woodland. Facilities include a vitality pool, herbal sauna, Finnish sauna, salt steam room and cold plunge, giving guests the opportunity to move between hot and cold experiences in an outdoor setting.
The spa has six treatment rooms, including a dedicated couples’ suite and a Sakura Head Spa. It also offers Welnamis, a non-touch treatment using sound and gentle vibrations as part of a relaxation experience.
Gisborough Hall has partnered with Bamford and Elemis for the treatment menu, bringing the two brands’ face and body treatments into the new spa. The wider experience extends to Koyo, Sakura Spa’s signature dining concept. Named after the Japanese word for the changing colours of autumn leaves, Koyo takes inspiration from the seasons and the Japanese appreciation of nature, with a menu focused on fresh and nourishing ingredients.
Vicki Jackson, Spa Director at Sakura Spa, said: "We're incredibly proud to welcome guests to Sakura Spa and unveil a wellness destination that has been designed to help people truly switch off and reconnect with themselves. Every attention to detail has been inspired by nature, from the calming woodland setting to the carefully curated thermal experiences and treatment offering, creating a space that encourages rest, renewal and balance.”
The spa’s name, Sakura, means cherry blossom in Japanese and is associated with renewal, hope and new beginnings, themes reflected in the design and positioning of the new facility.
Alongside spa days and overnight stays, Gisborough Hall has introduced The Sakura Spa Club, a limited-membership offering that includes one spa visit each month, preferential member rates, priority booking, early access to events and benefits across the hotel.
Spa day and spa break packages are now available, with the Sakura Spa Day priced from £185 per person.
