Cowdray House, the historic 22-bedroom country house at Cowdray Estate, is set to open a new luxury spa in November 2026, creating a private wellness offering exclusively for guests staying at the House.
The new 420sqm spa has been integrated with the Grade II listed property and expands on its existing indoor swimming pool. Facilities will include a gym with Technogym equipment and a dedicated weight training area, treatment rooms, a yoga and Pilates studio, sauna and steam room, outdoor hydrotherapy pool and ice bath.
The wellness offering will extend beyond the spa itself, with guests able to access a programme of personal training, guided outdoor running, yoga and Pilates, forest bathing, massage therapies and facial treatments. Sessions can be tailored around individual preferences and requirements.
Cowdray House has also appointed British luxury skincare brand Wildsmith as its official spa and wellness partner. The partnership will see Wildsmith create a treatment menu specifically for the property, drawing on the brand’s plant-based formulations and focus on botanical science and wellbeing.
Treatments will include the Rebalancing Massage, Recovery Massage, Radical Botany Facial and Ceramide Skin Repair Facial. A new ritual, Cowdray Wildsmith Sauna Therapy, has also been created exclusively for guests at Cowdray House.
The spa’s design takes a deliberately contemporary approach within the historic setting. While the House retains its heritage character and traditional interiors, the new wellness space has been conceived as a modern sanctuary focused on movement, restoration and relaxation.
Warm stone, pale oak and muted tones create a natural palette throughout the spa, while vaulted ceilings and large windows bring natural light into the fitness studio.
The connection with the surrounding estate is also central to the design. Outdoor relaxation areas and terraces allow guests to move between the indoor facilities and the landscape, with spaces intended for quiet reflection as well as socialising.
The addition of the spa forms part of Cowdray House’s wider guest experience, with the combination of indoor wellness facilities, outdoor activities and nature-based experiences reflecting the growing demand for more integrated approaches to wellbeing within luxury hospitality.
With access limited to Cowdray House guests, the new spa will offer a more private alternative to the traditional destination spa model, combining hotel-based wellness with the wider landscape and activities of the Cowdray Estate.
