A new bathing and wellness destination is set to open on London’s King’s Road in late 2026, bringing communal bathing, treatments and dining together under one roof.
SONARA will occupy more than 1,500 square metres across two floors of the One Twenty development in Chelsea. Described by its founders as a Fine Bathing & Dining Club, the concept draws on traditional communal bathing cultures while positioning social connection as an integral part of the wellbeing experience.
Rather than separating bathing, treatment and food into distinct stages, the club is designed around a continuous visit in which guests can move between heat, cold, rest, treatments and dining at their own pace.
At the centre of the concept will be a traditional oak-lined Banya Chamber, which will accommodate up to 30 people. Steam Masters will lead Parenie, a Russian bathing ritual involving handcrafted veniki – bundles of birch, oak or fir branches – used to move steam around the body.
The bathing sequence will combine periods of heat with cold immersion and rest, creating a repeated cycle of contrast and recovery.
Other facilities announced for the opening include a Snow Room, Red Salt Grotto, Hammam, Cold Plunge, Shower Buckets, Floating Room and Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber. Further bathing, treatment and recovery facilities are expected to be revealed before the club opens.
The social element is central to SONARA’s proposition. Its founders point to the historical role of communal bathing as places not only for physical restoration, but also for conversation, business and socialising. The new club aims to bring some of that communal tradition into a contemporary London setting.
Guests will have a table reserved for the duration of their visit, providing a base between bathing and treatment sessions. The 80-cover restaurant will serve a European-inspired menu intended to work across the experience, from lighter dishes between bathing cycles to longer meals.
Dining will take place in robes, maintaining the informal feel of the bathing environment rather than requiring guests to transition into a separate restaurant experience.
For groups seeking greater privacy, SONARA will also offer four Private Suites of approximately 90 square metres, each accommodating up to 10 people. The suites will take their design cues from different architectural traditions, including an English country house, Moroccan riad, Chinese courtyard and Alpine chalet.
Each will include a private Banya Chamber, Cold Plunge, dining and relaxation areas, with treatments available in-suite. A dedicated Steam Master will also guide guests through the bathing ritual.
SONARA will be open to both members and day guests, while membership will include access to a private Members’ Lounge and a programme of experiences and gatherings throughout the year. The project is expected to reveal further details of its interiors, treatment offering, food and beverage programme and Founding Memberships ahead of its late-2026 opening.
