Coastal Cornish retreat, Bedruthan Hotel & Spa, has announced the launch of its inaugural ‘Waves of Wellness’ festival this June. In partnership with London-based wellness consultancy, Oyogo, the three-day creative escape invites guests for an immersive weekend of wellness and holistic practice while connecting with the grounding Cornish coastline. Expert practitioners include surfer and environmentalist Sophie Hellyer, former international rugby player Anthony Mullally and yoga therapist and psychologist Dr Alicia Ray, to name a few.
From 14 to 16 June 2024, the ‘Waves of Wellness’ festival will focus on movement, mindfulness, creativity and nature, with a variety of workshops to guide participants on their holistic journey. Working closely with Oyogo, the immersive schedule invites guests to embrace deeply restorative breathwork, meditation, cliff-top yoga, and sound bath healing as well as channel their energy through ecstatic dance and silent disco yoga.
Former professional rugby players Anthony Mullally and David Jackson, now performance breathwork coaches, will lead a series of deeply restorative breathwork sessions aimed at inducing deep relaxation and balance in the nervous system. Alongside these sessions, David will lead hot and cold therapy workshops, fostering mental strength, resilience, and adaptive coping with daily stressors.
Originally from Devon, surfer, writer and yoga teacher, Sophie Hellyer, will return to the Atlantic coastline to lead an introduction to wild and cold-water swimming, providing the tools to build a stronger mindset. Additional highlights include Pilates with qualified instructor Kayleigh Jayne; therapeutic yoga and sound healing with Sama Trinder; crystal sound bath meditation with Maddie Lily Rowland; and silent disco and yoga with psychologist Dr Alicia Ray — an immersive session with uplifting music through specialised headphones paired with a guided energising Vinyasa yoga flow for participants to feel nourished and invigorated.
Inspiring participants to discover their inner artist, a programme of arts and crafts provide an opportunity to switch off and tune into a mindful reset. Guests can join Beading Workshops with Alula Collections and Expressive Art with Lu Cornish, a passionate advocate for mental wellness and artistic expression. Alongside these sessions, the team at Create Cornwall, Bedruthan’s in-house art studio, will be leading a series of hands-on sustainably minded craft workshops.
Participants are also encouraged to connect with the local environment and embrace the natural beauty of Cornwall’s landscape with a series of grounding workshops. Whether it's soaking up the sun during coastal path hikes, riding nature's roller coaster through invigorating surf lessons, or exploring the bounties of nature on wild foraging walks, this experience is designed to foster a genuine connection with Cornwall's coastline.
A scandi-inspired retreat on top of the Cornish clifftops, Bedruthan is a colourful, idyllic choice for nature-loving travellers. The hotel celebrates the Cornish landscape and is designed with its environment in mind, with Sensory Spa Gardens, relaxation lounges and swimming pools. Food plays a pivotal part of the experience as Bedruthan is home to two dining experiences - Ogo and Wild Café. Head Chef George Richardson leads the restaurant's commitment to simplicity and sustainability, recently unveiling an enticing dinner menu that embodies the ethos of the Bedruthan brand.
