New initiatives from Spa Life International announced for 2018

New initiatives from Spa Life International announced for 2018

The recent Spa Life International (UK) Convention was hailed as a huge success by delegates and sponsors alike, and during the event some exciting new initiatives for 2018 were announced by the Spa Life Team.

Founding Director, Andrew Hammond, commented: “It is clear that Spa Life is a brand the industry has come to trust as we are often approached by our customers with requests to develop a wide range of new initiatives, so we thought it was about time we took up the challenge.”

Spa Data

Hammond continued: “Over the last 10 years or so we have accumulated large quantities of data relating to the UK spa sector but, to date, we have done nothing with it. We now plan to rectify this for the mutual benefit of everyone involved in the sector.

Sound market intelligence is essential to support effective decision making

“Sound market intelligence is essential to support effective decision making and business planning and the aim of this project is to provide a central data hub and valuable market intelligence for the industry.

“We hold comprehensive data on more than 1,000 spa facilities and are currently in discussion with a number of internationally-recognised data organisations who have expressed an interest in collaborating with us to turn our data into usable information.

“We believe working with an independent organisation that has expertise in secure data-handling will assure participants that their data will be professionally and securely managed and thus encourage an even higher participation.”

Spa Awards

Another initiative announced for the New Year is a new Spa Management Award scheme, which Hammond described as being developed by spa professionals for spa professionals. The Awards will be assessed and adjudicated by an independent panel of spa experts.

Management excellence should be rewarded

“This is another scheme that several of our customers and Partners have requested; they – like us – want to see management excellence recognised and rewarded alongside other consumer-focussed schemes where customers are encouraged to vote for their favourite spa.

“When we looked at the level of experience within our own team, plus the extent of senior contacts we have, it became clear that this project could be fulfilled quite quickly so we have put plans in place to launch the scheme and hope to present the first Awards at Spa Life UK 2018.”

Salon Life

The final scheme planned for 2018 involves a market development strategy, which will see the Spa Life event format adapted for the Beauty market.

In-person meetings are the most effective way to meet new clients

“This concept was actually requested by a couple of our event sponsors because the in-person meetings provided in the ‘speed-dating’ forum have proven to be such an effective way to do business and meet new clients. We mooted the idea at this year’s Spa Life UK Convention and by the end of the event we had more than 20 suppliers signed-up, so it looks like we’ll be delivering this new event too. When you add in our other International Spa Life events in Germany and Ireland it looks like 2018 is set to be a busy time for us!”
