Former spa director and experienced spa professional Helena Field has launched Action Wellbeing - a new initiative that aims to support businesses and individuals alike in prioritising wellbeing.

Field, who has run some of the UK’s most prestigious Spa and Wellbeing facilities including Champneys in Tring, Harrods in Knightsbridge, Pennyhill Park in Surrey, the Mandarin Oriental in London, and more recently General Manager of the UK Spa Association, launched the new initiative to provide better access to information, training, coaching and initiatives that support wellbeing.

Born out of the Covid-19 crisis, the experienced Health and Wellbeing Coach, Personal Trainer, Massage Therapist and Fitness, Spa and Wellbeing Manager, hopes her new business will empower employers to find a place for wellbeing in the workplace, support communities with wellbeing initiatives, and encourage individuals to take ownership of their own personal wellbeing journeys.

Commenting on the launch Helena said: “Since 2018 I have been providing talent services for Spas. Regrettably and like many, I was forced to close this side of the business when Covid hit. However, in addition to talent services SpaPulse has been evolving its portfolio into other areas of wellbeing, notably workplace wellbeing and individual coaching. Now more than ever we need to look after our wellbeing.”

Speaking further on the initiative Helena said; “Wellbeing has featured heavily in my career but it wasn’t until I faced chronic stress and burnout in 2016 that I began a personal journey to revive my own wellbeing. Whilst on this journey I began to acknowledge how vital it was not just to nurture my own individual wellbeing at home, but also to have the tools available within my workplace and support in my hometown community to thrive again".

Helena was fortunate to be able to access information and experts via the Spa and Wellness sector. Through initiatives in her community, working with coaches and extensive personal research Helena has gained experience and understanding of the benefits of quality sleep, nutrition, exercise, meaning, connectedness and self-care on mental and physical health.

Four years of exploring the world of wellbeing personally helped Helena thrive again in spite of her own personal challenges, which has included coping with autoimmune disease, divorce, grief, burnout, anxiety and chronic stress. Having experienced first-hand the damaging effects life’s challenges can have on both mental and physical health, Helena is keen to help share her expertise and advice with others, now more than ever in a post pandemic world.

Helena concluded; “Wellbeing is the state of being happy, healthy, and comfortable. It is fundamental to the overall physical and mental health of an individual and is the foundation of a life where one won’t simply exist but will instead thrive. Not since World War Two have we faced such a turbulent time as a society. A global pandemic of unmeasurable consequences that is affecting every single soul in this country. The magnitude of the impact of Coronavirus will not be realised for a very long time but we know already that it has been catastrophic for so many in terms of their mental and physical health. Support has never been more needed.”
